The 17th edition of CPHI & PMEC India, organized by Informa Markets in India, commenced at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR. The event highlights India’s role as a pharmaceutical powerhouse, with the industry poised to grow from $55 billion to $130 billion by 2030 and $450 billion by 2047. Bringing together 2,000+ exhibitors and 50,000 visitors from over 150 countries, the expo showcases advancements in pharma machinery, packaging, laboratory technologies, and more, fostering innovation and partnerships across the global healthcare ecosystem.

The event was inaugurated by key industry leaders, including Mr K. Raja Bhanu, Director General of Pharmexcil, and Ms Rhonda Duffy, COO of Biocon Biologics, among others. Leading companies like Dr. Reddy’s, Biocon, Glenmark Lifesciences, and Lupin are showcasing innovations alongside advanced manufacturing technologies featured at the PMEC pavilion.

Mr AVPS Chakravarthy, Global Ambassador, WPO, emphasized India’s innovation in areas such as cancer therapy and drug-resistant antibiotics, highlighting the nation’s leadership in affordability and efficacy. He praised the expo as a crucial platform for showcasing advancements in AI-driven drug inspection, sustainable packaging, and startup innovations.

Dr Veeramani, Chairman, Pharmexcil, spoke about India’s dominance as the “pharmacy of the world,” citing its exports to over 200 countries and its projected growth to $450 billion by 2047. He highlighted breakthroughs in biologics and specialty generics, positioning India as a transformative force in global healthcare.

Mr  Harish K. Jain, President, FOPE, highlighted India’s contributions to global exports, saving patients billions annually through affordable medicines. He noted the industry’s growing integration with AI and biologics, setting the stage for India to become a $1 trillion pharmaceutical hub by 2047.

Mr  Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets India, reflected on India’s strengths, including low manufacturing costs and skilled labor, which have made the country a top destination for pharmaceutical innovation.

Day 2 will feature sessions on sustainability, ESG practices, and green chemistry in drug discovery. Additionally, the Startup Pavilion will showcase disruptors with cutting-edge solutions, offering attendees a glimpse into the future of the pharma sector.
