CORONA Remedies Limited has inaugurated and commercialised its dedicated hormone manufacturing facility at Bhayla, Ahmedabad, marking a major step in strengthening its capabilities in women’s healthcare. The new plant, approved under European Union Good Manufacturing Practice (EU-GMP) standards, has been developed to manufacture high-quality hormone-based medicines for both Indian and international markets.
The facility was inaugurated by Chairman Dr KL. Mehta along with the company’s long-serving women employees, recognising their contribution to the company’s growth and reflecting CORONA Remedies’ continued focus on improving women’s health. The demand for hormone-based medicines has been rising across the world due to increasing awareness of hormonal disorders, infertility treatment, menopause care and hormone replacement therapies. As these treatments become more specialised, there is a growing need for dedicated manufacturing facilities that meet strict quality and safety standards.
Hormone medicines require highly controlled manufacturing environments because they contain potent active ingredients and require strict contamination control. To meet these requirements, CORONA Remedies has established a dedicated facility equipped with advanced technology, specialised engineering systems and international-quality manufacturing processes.
Spread over one lakh square feet, the new manufacturing unit can produce 194 million tablets and capsules annually along with 1.5 million ointments and gels. The facility manufactures multiple dosage forms, including tablets, soft gel capsules, ointments and gels, making it one of India’s most advanced hormone manufacturing plants. With the commissioning of this unit, the company expects its in-house hormone production capacity to increase by nearly 20 percent.
The facility features fully integrated closed-loop manufacturing systems, advanced digital process controls and Quality by Design (QbD) practices to ensure consistent product quality. It also includes modern gelatin processing systems with precise temperature control and real-time process monitoring to improve manufacturing accuracy and maintain batch-to-batch consistency.
Speaking on the occasion, Nirav K Mehta, Founder, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CORONA Remedies Limited, said the company believes that strong manufacturing capabilities are essential to support scientific innovation in women’s healthcare. He said the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable and high-quality hormone therapies while strengthening India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities.
Founded in 2004, CORONA Remedies has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies. The company develops, manufactures and markets medicines across therapeutic areas including women’s healthcare, cardiology, diabetes, pain management and urology. It operates WHO-GMP and EU-GMP certified manufacturing facilities and supports product development through its DSIR-approved research and development centres.
