Coromandel International unveiled 10 new products on Friday aimed at enhancing crop yields and safeguarding harvests from pests and diseases. Among the new offerings are a neem-coated bio plant and soil health promoter and five generic formulations, providing a robust suite of crop protection solutions for Indian farmers, the company announced in a statement.

One of the highlights of the launch is “Prachand,” a patented product developed in partnership with Japan’s ISK. Utilizing advanced Japanese technology, Prachand is designed to protect paddy crops from devastating pests such as stem borers and leaf folders, which can lead to yield losses of up to 70%.

Coromandel has also introduced a new formulation specifically targeting the fall armyworm, a highly destructive pest responsible for damaging up to 30% of the corn crop annually in India. This initiative is part of Coromandel’s broader strategy to address the escalating pest attacks that have been challenging crop output across the country.

Raghuram Devarakonda, Executive Director of Coromandel’s Crop Protection and Bioproducts division, emphasized the significance of this launch. “This marks the first time that Coromandel has introduced 10 new products in a single year,” Devarakonda stated. He highlighted that the launches include one product developed through a Japanese collaboration and four stemming from in-house research, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation in Indian agriculture.

The company noted that 15% of its sales in the fiscal year ending March 2024 came from new products, reflecting the growing impact of its continuous research and development efforts. With these new products, Coromandel International aims to provide Indian farmers with effective tools to combat pests and diseases, ultimately enhancing productivity and ensuring more reliable crop yields.
