Coromandel International Ltd, has inaugurated a cutting-edge nano fertiliser plant at its manufacturing complex in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The unveiling ceremony, held on Sunday, was led by Sankarasubramanian S, Executive Director (Nutrient Business) of Coromandel International, alongside senior company officials and key channel partners from across the country.

This newly commissioned nano fertiliser plant marks Coromandel’s foray into the next generation of agricultural inputs, poised to revolutionise farming practices in India. According to a statement released by the company, the fully automated plant boasts an impressive annual production capacity of one crore bottles. Designed with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient technologies, the facility is scalable to manufacture various ranges of nano fertilisers, supplementing its initial offerings of Nano Dia Ammonium Phosphsate (DAP) and Nano Urea products.

Coromandel has developed these nano fertilisers through extensive research conducted at its in-house R&D centre at the IIT Bombay-Monash Research Academy. These products are engineered to optimize nutrient delivery and absorption by crops, thereby enhancing agricultural productivity sustainably.

Under the brand name ‘Gromor Nano’, Coromandel has conducted rigorous field trials to validate the efficacy of its nano fertilisers. These efforts underscore the company’s commitment to leveraging innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of Indian farmers. Additionally, Coromandel has established a Nano Technology Centre in Coimbatore to further explore nano applications in agriculture, demonstrating its long-term commitment to technological advancement in the sector.

The Kakinada unit of Coromandel International already boasts an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes of conventional fertilisers, catering extensively to the agricultural requirements across India. The addition of the nano fertiliser plant represents a significant milestone in Coromandel’s mission to enhance agricultural sustainability and efficiency through advanced technology.

This strategic initiative is expected to bolster Coromandel’s position as a pioneer in the agricultural sector while contributing to the broader goals of food security and environmental sustainability in India.
