Copia Automation today announced that its OT code management and recovery platform now supports Omron Sysmac Studio, extending automated backup, version control and rapid recovery capabilities to manufacturers operating Omron NJ and NX-series devices. The integration enables manufacturers using Sysmac Studio to apply the same code management and recovery practices across their operations that Copia already provides for Rockwell, Siemens and other automation environments.
In industrial operations, recovery time can have a direct impact on production and business continuity. However, code running programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation devices is often not consistently versioned, backed up or tested for recovery. Backups may remain on engineers’ laptops or USB drives, leaving recovery dependent on individual availability and knowledge when a cyber incident, incorrect code change or hardware failure disrupts operations.
With Copia DeviceLink™, Sysmac Studio projects can be backed up automatically, giving OT teams access to a verified last known version for restoration. The platform also detects accidental or unauthorised device-level changes and provides engineers with complete change histories and visual differences to help validate modifications and roll back changes quickly.
Sysmac Studio projects can be managed alongside automation code from other controller manufacturers through a centralised system of record. Designed specifically for OT environments, Copia can operate within segmented, security-sensitive networks without requiring new inbound ports.
“Copia has brought the science of reliable version control to OT sites across the Americas. It is great to see a user-first organization continue to invest in software that protects the code running critical operations,” said Thomas Kuckhoff, Product Manager Supervisor at Omron Automation Americas.
“The code running the physical world deserves the same rigor that software has had for two decades, and that includes the ability to recover quickly when something goes wrong,” said Matt Lee, Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at Copia Automation. “The recovery gap in OT is real. When something breaks on the line, most teams are still hunting for the last known verified copy on someone’s laptop while every minute of downtime adds up. Every plant we walk into runs a mix of controllers, and Omron is a major part of that reality. Extending Copia to Sysmac Studio means our customers no longer have to choose between the controller that best fits the application and the resilience they need to keep it running.”
The integration allows customers to schedule automated backups, receive real-time alerts on code changes, compare versions through visual diffs, validate and merge updates using Copia’s Git-based Source Control, and rapidly restore verified Sysmac Studio projects. Omron devices can also be managed alongside other PLC brands through a unified platform.
