Copeland to Invest Rs 500 Crore to Expand Manufacturing and R&D in India

US-based Copeland, a leader in sustainable climate solutions, has announced plans to invest Rs 500 crore (approximately $60 million) in India. The investment will enhance its manufacturing facility in Atit, Maharashtra, and establish a new global R&D center in Pune. This expansion will boost Copeland’s engineering capabilities, increase production of its compression solutions, and drive innovation in sustainable heating, cooling, refrigeration, and industrial solutions.

“India is a key market for Copeland, and this investment reflects our dedication to both the region and technological advancements,” said CEO Ross B. Shuster. “By expanding production capacity, we aim to reduce lead times and support India’s energy and environmental goals.”

The enhanced facilities will feature an advanced scroll compressor line, serving both domestic and international markets. These investments will also accelerate developments in cooling and refrigeration technology, supporting Copeland’s focus on global trends like energy transition, low-GWP refrigerants, and the sustainability of cold chains.
