Continental Tires, a global leader in the tyre manufacturing industry, introduced its latest tyre innovations at the Continental Track Day event held at the Wabco Proving Ground in Chennai. The event featured the launch of the PremiumContact 6 (PC6) tyres, designed with advanced technologies for improved performance, and the introduction of ContiSeal technology aimed at enhancing tyre safety. Continental also expanded its commercial vehicle offerings with the release of Gen3 Truck Radial tyres in India.
The PremiumContact 6 tyres are built to handle India’s diverse and challenging road conditions. They feature Macroblock Technology, which enhances cornering stability and offers better vehicle control. A silica compound ensures reliable grip in both wet and dry conditions, making the tyres ideal for India’s monsoons and hot summers.
The tyres also feature an asymmetric rib geometry, improving grip during lateral movements by increasing pattern stiffness and reducing block deformation. Available in rim sizes from 17 to 20 inches, the PremiumContact 6 is now available at Continental’s outlets across the country.
A key highlight of the launch is the new ContiSeal technology, designed to improve tyre safety by sealing punctures automatically. The technology can seal up to 85% of tread punctures caused by objects up to 5 mm in diameter, using a specially engineered viscous sealant layer inside the tyre. This feature helps maintain tyre pressure, even if the puncturing object dislodges, and eliminates the need for a spare tyre, ensuring uninterrupted journeys and added convenience for drivers.
Continental also unveiled its Gen3 Truck Radial tyres, designed for medium and heavy commercial vehicles. These tyres are suitable for highway, regional, and off-road applications. As part of the expanded portfolio, two new sizes were introduced: the 295/90 R20 size, ideal for hybrid and regional applications, and the 235/75 R17.5 size, designed for light commercial vehicles like buses and trucks, focusing on durability and long-term performance. Through these new product offerings, Continental Tires continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of both passenger and commercial vehicle markets in India.
