Continental Technical Center India (TCI) has teamed up with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore and MathWorks to launch a new course called “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture.” This program aims to equip students with knowledge of the automotive industry, particularly focusing on Automotive Open Source Architecture (AUTOSAR), to better prepare them for roles in the field by connecting academic learning with industry requirements.

This partnership builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established in 2022 between Continental and Amrita University, which was intended to promote academic and research initiatives, including the development of curriculum, research projects, consulting, and internship opportunities.

Latha Chembrakalam, Head of TCI at Continental, emphasized that this collaboration underscores the company’s commitment to developing a workforce ready for the automotive industry. By merging industry insights with academic instruction, the initiative seeks to impart practical skills and experience that will enable students to succeed in the automotive sector.

Prof. C. Parameswaran, Principal Director of Corporate & Industry Relations at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, acknowledged the contributions from Continental and MathWorks in creating a course centered on AUTOSAR, a key technology in the industry. He noted that the course will feature lectures, hands-on workshops, and relevant case studies.

Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of Academics at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, added that participants will gain practical experience in designing scalable, modular software architecture for automotive embedded systems. Utilizing tools from MathWorks and industry expertise from Continental, students will learn model-based design, simulation, and testing, which aligns with current standards in automotive software development.

Sunil Motwani, Country Manager for MathWorks India, stated that the partnership aims to create a well-rounded course at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He highlighted MathWorks’ experience in education and industry collaboration, which has been instrumental in shaping the course to encompass automotive product development, including architecture, embedded systems, and AUTOSAR standards through a Model-Based Design approach. This initiative is designed to prepare students for future careers in the automotive industry.
