Continental is showcasing a lineup of technological innovations and sustainable solutions designed for the future’s software-defined vehicles, promising to transform the landscape of mobility in India. The showcase is taking place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, scheduled from February 1 to 3, 2024, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Founded more than 150 years ago in Hanover, Germany, Continental has influenced the Indian landscape in the last 15 years through its three divisions: Automotive, Tires, and ContiTech. As a technology company renowned for providing secure, efficient, connected, intelligent, and cost-effective mobility solutions, Continental has achieved success with nearly 10,000 employees situated across 12 locations and bolstered by seven manufacturing facilities.

The exhibition encompasses a wide range of offerings, including autonomous vehicle technologies, connected car solutions, cutting-edge tires, environmentally friendly surface solutions, state-of-the-art display systems, and advanced brake-by-wire solutions, among other groundbreaking advancements.

Continental, a technology firm, is dedicated to generating value in the Indian market through the development of advanced mobility solutions. Through an emphasis on localization, the company aims to solidify its position as a frontrunner in hardware innovation, software proficiency, and system expertise, employing a strategy that aligns with being present in the market and tailored to its unique demands.

Continental India is set to expand its electronics manufacturing, boost software development capabilities, and seamlessly integrate software and electronics to swiftly introduce cutting-edge solutions to the market. The company aims to take the lead in India’s Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) vision by developing state-of-the-art vehicle system functions powered by High-Performance Computers (HPC).

President and CEO, Prashanth Doreswamy, emphasized Continental’s dedication to research and development, advanced technological capabilities, and a focus on localization, bridging India with the global market. The Bangalore Plant and Technical Center India (TCI) will play pivotal roles in realizing the new growth strategy, with substantial investments in safety and connected car technologies at the Bangalore Plant and significant contributions from TCI in terms of people and software systems competencies.

Continental’s Gurgaon Plant is also making strides in localizing advanced electronic brake systems and brake-by-wire solutions, positioning the company to align with dynamic market trends. The commitment to Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) technology signals a paradigm shift in the automotive landscape, promising advancements in safety, connectivity, and overall driving convenience. Continental’s collaboration efforts, such as the cloud-based development environment CAEdge, aim to accelerate software feature development and validation for SDV.

Continental’s Plug & Play concept introduces a modular and highly scalable solution for integrating high-performance computers (HPC) in vehicle architectures, allowing for field-exchange or upgrades of individual computing modules. The company’s local strategy emphasizes efficiency optimization through the automation of manufacturing plants. TCI, as a key R&D location, combines growing engineering competencies to meet global Automotive Research and Development (R&D) requirements.

Continental’s sustainability commitment extends from materials to products, exemplified by the UltraContact NXT tire, premiered globally and showcased in India. This tire, with up to 65 percent renewable, recycled, and mass balance certified materials, emphasizes sustainability without compromising safety and performance. Continental’s strategic shift towards bio-based raw materials and recycled plastics demonstrates awareness and responsibility towards the environment, reducing carbon footprints and contributing to global waste reduction.

The company also prioritizes durability and performance through scratch-resistant materials with outstanding cleaning and anti-soiling properties. Continental’s dedication to innovation, hardware excellence, software competence, and system expertise reinforces its commitment to creating value in the Indian market.
