Cognex Corporation has introduced the In-Sight® 3900 Vision System, a next-generation embedded AI machine vision platform developed to deliver faster, more accurate industrial inspections directly at the production edge. Powered by QualcommDragonwing™ technology, the new system is designed to help manufacturers achieve high-speed inspection performance without compromising throughput, precision, or operational simplicity.
The launch marks a major advancement in embedded AI vision technology for manufacturing industries such as packaging, automotive, electronics, and consumer goods, where real-time inspection and production efficiency are critical. The In-Sight 3900 combines Cognex-developed Edge AI, Advanced AI, and rule-based vision tools within a fully integrated platform capable of handling demanding inspection tasks at full production speed. The system is engineered to support deterministic, real-time inspections while maintaining consistent operational performance across high-volume manufacturing environments.
Matt Moschner, President and CEO of Cognex, said the In-Sight 3900 represents a significant step forward in industrial AI vision systems by eliminating the traditional compromise between inspection depth and line speed. He noted that manufacturers can now achieve advanced inspection performance while maintaining the simplicity and reliability associated with Cognex technologies.
One of the major advantages of the new platform is its ability to process inspections up to four times faster than previous-generation Cognex systems. The enhanced processing capability is designed to improve line productivity and reduce operational bottlenecks in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
The system also supports imaging resolutions of up to 25 megapixels, enabling broader fields of view, improved defect detection, and highly detailed measurements within a single image capture. Embedded AI acceleration and optimized processing architecture further enable synchronized real-time inspection across high-speed production lines.
Industrial connectivity has also been strengthened through a dual Ethernet architecture, allowing seamless integration with programmable logic controllers, robotic systems, and enterprise-level manufacturing infrastructure.
The In-Sight 3900 is built on Cognex’s latest embedded AI architecture and incorporates a dedicated AI processor for rapid decision-making at the edge. The platform supports Edge AI tools for stable and efficient deployment, Advanced AI capabilities for complex applications, and PC-free operation that simplifies deployment and long-term system management.
Andrea Sabbadini, Engineering Manager at Fuji Seal, said the company’s high-speed packaging lines previously relied on traditional OCR tools due to throughput limitations. He added that the In-Sight 3900 now enables the deployment of advanced AI reading tools at full production speed while improving inspection reliability and reducing maintenance complexity.
When integrated with CognexOneVision, the system becomes part of a scalable cloud-to-edge AI ecosystem that supports centralized AI model development, cross-site collaboration, and local inspection execution across manufacturing facilities worldwide. For more than four decades, Cognex has helped simplify advanced machine vision, enabling manufacturers and distribution businesses to operate faster, smarter, and with greater efficiency through automation. Its cutting-edge vision systems and sensors address complex production and logistics challenges, delivering high-performance solutions across industries including automotive, consumer electronics, and packaged goods.
With a strong and sustained investment in AI-driven innovation, Cognex continues to make machine vision technology more powerful and easier to implement. This allows factories and warehouses to enhance quality control, streamline operations, and boost productivity without requiring deep technical expertise.
