Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), has clinched a significant order worth Rs 1,100 crore from Norway’s Wilson ASA. The order is for designing and constructing four 6300 TDW dry cargo vessels.
Additionally, an agreement has been made for another four vessels of the same type, which will be formally contracted by September 19, 2024. This order follows a previous contract awarded in June 2023 for six 3800 TDW dry cargo vessels, which are currently in advanced stages of construction at the Udupi, Karnataka yard.
Each vessel measures 100 meters in length and has a carrying capacity of 6300 metric tonnes at a design draft of 6.5 meters. They will be designed by Conoship International, Netherlands, as environment-friendly diesel-electric vessels for transporting general cargo in European coastal waters.
Wilson ASA, headquartered in Bergen, Norway, is a leading operator in Europe’s short sea fleet, transporting approximately 15 million tonnes of dry cargo annually with a fleet of around 130 vessels ranging from 1500 to 8500 DWT.
UCSL has also secured additional orders for four 70T Bollard Pull Tugs from Ocean Sparkle Limited (three) and Polestar Maritime Limited (one). The shares of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) closed at Rs 2,280, down by Rs 10.50 (0.47%) on Friday.
