CloudNC, a leader in manufacturing technology, has launched a new tool, the CAM Assist Cycle Time Estimator, designed to streamline and accelerate the CNC machining estimation process. This tool aims to remove common bottlenecks in quoting, making it faster and more efficient for machine shops to generate accurate estimates.

Traditionally, estimating and quoting for CNC machining has been a slow, manual task that requires significant labor. The new Cycle Time Estimator automates this process, allowing users to estimate times for multiple parts at once, potentially speeding up the process by up to 20 times, depending on part complexity.

The tool integrates with popular platforms like Mastercam and Autodesk Fusion, enabling users to calculate machining times and tool paths for 3-axis and 3+2 axis parts quickly. Once generated, the data can be seamlessly integrated into the existing estimation workflow, helping companies bid for more projects and make better use of their resources.

CloudNC CEO and co-founder, Theo Saville, highlighted the significance of the solution, saying, “Quoting for new work is a major bottleneck in the machining industry. It’s a task that requires expert knowledge, and it can be incredibly time-consuming. Our solution not only speeds up the process but allows estimators to handle multiple parts at once, delivering accurate estimates far faster than any manual method.”

The Cycle Time Estimator builds on CloudNC’s CAM Assist AI solution, which enhances the speed of CAM programming. By automating the tool selection and machining algorithms, the Estimator ensures consistency in estimates, reducing human errors and improving overall accuracy.

The tool also provides valuable metadata for each part, such as part volume, stock volume, and machining efficiency. This allows for easy integration into existing workflows and improves overall efficiency in the quoting process.

Mark Hyde of FJH Group, a user of CAM Assist, praised the tool: “CAM Assist has cut our quoting time by 70%, ensuring we generate accurate cycle times and tool paths. This has allowed us to win more work by offering more precise estimates.”

Available for both Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam, the Cycle Time Estimator is part of CloudNC’s ongoing mission to transform precision machining through AI-powered solutions. Founded in 2015, the London-based company is backed by major investors such as Atomico and Episode 1 Ventures, with strategic partnerships including Autodesk and Lockheed Martin.
