CII and Danfoss India Unveil Report on India’s Food Processing Sector at FoodPro 2024 in Chennai

At the 15th edition of CII FoodPro 2024, held at the Chennai Trade Centre from August 9th to 11th, a significant report titled “Food Processing Sector in India – Potential for Southern States” was unveiled. This report, prepared by CII FACE (Confederation of Indian Industry – Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence) with support from Danfoss India, provides a comprehensive analysis of emerging trends, technologies, and export opportunities in the food processing industry, specifically focusing on the southern states of India.

The report was launched by key dignitaries including Ms Apoorva IAS, Principal Secretary & Agricultural Production Commissioner, Government of Tamil Nadu; Thiru P. Rajeev, Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir, Government of Kerala; Mr Sreedhar Cherukuri IAS, Commissioner of Industries, Commerce & Exports, and CEO of AP Food Processing Society, Government of Andhra Pradesh; and Mr APM Mohammed Hanish IAS, Principal Secretary (Industries & Commerce), Government of Kerala. Also present were Mr Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India, and various CII members.

The report provides valuable insights for businesses, helping them navigate the strengths and challenges of each southern state while identifying investment opportunities and understanding the sector’s regulatory framework. It highlights how innovative segments such as millets, ready-to-eat products, and plant-based dairy alternatives are creating new economic opportunities for farmers and propelling India’s food processing industry onto the global stage.

In addition to the report launch, the event also saw the introduction of the new Danfoss Optyma™ Pack Condensing Unit. This energy-efficient solution is designed to address critical dairy processing challenges by maintaining optimal milk temperatures with minimal energy consumption, thus reducing carbon footprints. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Madhur Sehgal, Head of Climate Solutions – Sales, Danfoss India, emphasized that this new product is a milestone for India’s dairy industry, aligning with Danfoss’ commitment to sustainability and innovation in the cold chain and refrigeration sectors.
