Chevron Commits Rs 8,300 Crore to Establish Engineering Hub in Karnataka

Chevron, a leading global energy provider, has announced a substantial investment of Rs 8,300 crore to set up its Engineering and Innovation Centre of Excellence in Karnataka. The announcement was made during a meeting attended by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, M B Patil, and other officials.

Minister Patil highlighted Karnataka’s consistent leadership in fostering economic development and innovation. He emphasized that the collaboration with Chevron signifies the state’s progress in engineering and innovation. “The state government is dedicated to promoting innovation, economic growth, and job creation,” he stated.

Akshay Sahni, Country Head of Chevron India, shared the company’s vision for the new center, noting that it will leverage India’s exceptional talent alongside Chevron’s global resources to advance affordable, reliable clean energy solutions.

The Engineering and Innovation Centre is expected to employ 600 engineers by 2025, focusing on engineering and digital services to drive advancements in energy system technologies. The Minister’s office also noted that Karnataka’s progressive policies have fostered an environment conducive to technological innovation.

Bengaluru, already a hub for over 500 Global Competence Centres (GCCs), will host this new center, which aims to create significant employment opportunities for local professionals. The center will address global energy challenges and contribute to the production of clean, low-carbon fuels.

Minister Patil further explained that the Chevron team in Bengaluru will collaborate on complex global operations and energy projects with international stakeholders. He emphasized that the establishment of this center aligns with the Government of Karnataka’s priorities in technology, innovation, and skill development, underscoring the state’s importance as a key destination for global companies.
