Chartered Speed, a prominent player in India’s passenger mobility sector, has secured a contract with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) to operate over 900 electric buses. This initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme and will span 13 cities across three states. The company aims to serve over 2.9 lakh passengers daily and generate employment for more than 2,000 people, benefiting both the transportation and job markets.

This move aligns with Chartered Speed’s goal of accelerating the shift to electric vehicles in public transport, providing safer and more sustainable travel options across India. The e-buses will operate within urban areas of 13 cities: Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, Korba, Ajmer, Alwar, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, and Shillong, located in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Meghalaya.

Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director of Chartered Speed, remarked, “This achievement marks a key step in our efforts to build a greener and more efficient transportation network across India. By joining the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme, we’re moving from traditional vehicles to a modern fleet of electric buses, transforming urban mobility with cleaner, sustainable solutions. Our aim is to lead the way toward a low-carbon future, cut emissions, and offer millions of commuters greener options. This initiative plays a vital role in creating a cleaner, more connected, and forward-thinking India.”

As part of this transition, Chartered Speed is shifting its fleet from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to green-powered electric buses. This commitment is in line with the company’s long-term goal of supporting sustainable transportation. Chartered Speed currently operates a fleet of over 1,800 buses across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Assam, serving over 3.5 lakh passengers daily and employing over 4,800 staff members.
