Chartered Speed Limited has expanded its electric bus operations across all eight primary urban centres of Rajasthan under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, strengthening its presence in the state’s public transport network. The rollout covers Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bhilwara and Alwar. The company said the expansion makes it the first mobility operator to establish electric bus operations across all eight major urban nodes in Rajasthan under the scheme.
The deployment is part of Chartered Speed’s larger order of more than 800 buses for Rajasthan. The company currently operates a nationwide fleet of more than 2,000 buses. With the latest expansion, electric vehicles now account for approximately 25% of its total fleet, compared with around 10% earlier.
The new electric bus operations cover some of Rajasthan’s largest and economically important urban corridors, providing zero-emission public transport services to millions of passengers across the state. As part of the current rollout, 24 electric buses have started operations in Jaipur and Bhilwara, while another 47 buses have been deployed across Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota, Alwar, Ajmer and Jodhpur. Further deployment is planned as part of the company’s broader order and operating programme.
The expansion is also expected to generate more than 1,500 direct skilled jobs in areas including telemetry, fleet management, vehicle maintenance and driving operations. Chartered Speed said its electric mobility programme is supported by charging infrastructure and technology-enabled fleet management. The company is developing a captive 22 MW charging backbone to support its growing electric bus operations.
Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed Limited, said the company’s approach is focused on making electric mass transit commercially viable while supporting the development of urban mobility infrastructure. He said the deployment of more than 800 electric buses across high-density corridors, supported by dedicated charging infrastructure, would help improve fleet utilisation and support long-term emissions reduction.
The Rajasthan expansion forms part of Chartered Speed’s wider strategy to increase its electric mobility footprint across India. The company operates public transportation, intercity and intra-city services, employee transportation, school transportation and electric mobility solutions.
Established in 2010, Chartered Speed has more than 15 years of experience in passenger transportation services. It operates a fleet of more than 2,000 buses and serves over 3.5 lakh passengers every day across multiple mobility segments. The company uses technology such as GPS tracking, CCTV surveillance and Wi-Fi connectivity to support fleet operations, passenger safety and service reliability.
With operations spanning six states, Chartered Speed continues to expand its presence in contracted public transport and electric mobility. The Rajasthan rollout under PM e-Bus Sewa marks another significant step in the company’s transition towards a larger electric fleet and zero-emission urban transportation.
