Castrol India has introduced its upgraded MAGNATEC engine oil lineup, now compliant with the newly launched global API SQ specification—marking a significant step forward in automotive lubrication for Indian consumers. This development makes Castrol India the first in the country to offer engine oils that meet the latest global benchmark for passenger car performance.

What sets this achievement apart is that the new MAGNATEC range is being manufactured locally, underscoring Castrol’s commitment to the “Made in India, for India” philosophy. The API SQ standard, introduced worldwide in April 2025 by the American Petroleum Institute, is currently the most advanced specification in engine oil technology. Castrol India has rapidly brought this innovation to Indian roads, demonstrating its agility in delivering top-tier global technology to local markets.

“As Indian car owners demand higher fuel efficiency, reduced upkeep, and dependable performance in all conditions, our upgraded MAGNATEC range delivers on every front. Built to meet the API SQ standard, it offers enhanced protection from engine start-up to long-term reliability—delivering a global standard product tailored for Indian driving needs,” said Saugata Basuray, Wholetime Director, Castrol India.

The enhanced range will be available in widely used viscosity grades including 0W-20, 5W-30, and 5W-40. These formulations meet not only API SQ standards but also ACEA C2 and C3 specifications, ensuring they are well-suited for modern engines and future-ready performance expectations. The new Castrol MAGNATEC products will soon be available across retail outlets and workshops nationwide, offering consumers easy access to this next-generation engine oil.
