BYD Launches EV Competition for Indian Engineering Students

BYD India has announced the BYD EV Innovate-A-Thon, a competition for Indian engineering students to foster innovation in electric vehicles. Partnering with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC), the competition aims to inspire students to contribute to sustainable transportation.

The contest has three stages: an online quiz, a digital prototype round, and a final stage where students create a physical prototype and present a sales pitch. This format tests participants’ knowledge, design skills, and practical abilities.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles at BYD India, expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its alignment with BYD’s mission of technological innovation. The winning team will visit BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, while runner-up teams will receive cash prizes and trophies.

ASDC President F R Singhvi praised the initiative for inspiring students and preparing them for a sustainable future. This competition comes as BYD expands in India, with new variants of its ATTO3 model and recognition as a top global automotive brand. The Innovate-A-Thon aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, accelerating innovation in the EV sector.
