Boson Cell, positioning itself as India’s first homegrown lithium cell manufacturer, has introduced two new high-performance battery variants: the 18350 B-30A and the 21700 B-50A. These new offerings are designed to support the country’s transition toward sustainable, self-reliant energy systems.

This launch reflects India’s growing ambition to reduce import dependence and strengthen its renewable energy infrastructure. With the government’s strong focus on local production and clean technology through initiatives like FAME II, the PLI Scheme, and Drone Shakti, Boson Cell has emerged as a key contributor to India’s energy manufacturing ecosystem.

India’s lithium-ion battery market is projected to reach $9.56 billion by 2030, creating opportunities across electric mobility, consumer devices, renewable power systems, and drone technology. Boson’s latest products are designed to serve these expanding sectors with reliable, cost-effective, and scalable energy storage.

“Our aim is to provide energy solutions that match the evolving needs of modern industries while staying rooted in quality and innovation,” said Guru Punghavan, CEO of Boson Cell. “We’re not just replacing imported batteries—we’re building high-efficiency, locally manufactured cells for everything from electric vehicles to household tools.”

Boson’s new cells are offered in three categories—Economy, Advanced, and Extreme—each tailored for different use cases and scale requirements. Every unit undergoes stringent testing to ensure consistent performance and safety. Built for broad compatibility, the cells support a wide range of applications including EVs, drones, solar installations, and power tools.

The timing of Boson’s expansion aligns with the rapid growth of India’s drone industry, which is expected to reach $13 billion by 2030. As drones become vital in agriculture, defence, logistics, and infrastructure, Boson’s compact and energy-dense batteries are well-suited to meet sector demands.

Manufactured through a sustainability-first approach, the cells offer an eco-conscious alternative without compromising performance. In addition to affordability, Boson provides shorter lead times, smaller minimum order quantities, and faster delivery—addressing critical pain points in the supply chain.

Currently, Boson products are distributed across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh through retail stores, supermarkets, and local outlets. The products are also available online through platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Boson’s own direct-to-consumer website.

Looking ahead, the company plans to expand nationally by the end of 2025 through large-format retail and modern trade partnerships. Boson is also focusing on deeper integration into sectors such as drone technology, electric vehicles, and green energy infrastructure. With an emphasis on technological precision, domestic production, and sector-specific solutions, Boson Cell is helping shape a cleaner, more self-sufficient energy landscape for India.
