On 8th December 2021, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Private Limited organised a virtual event “Bosch Conversions on Transforming Manufacturing with Industry 4.0 and Beyond.” In the event key aspects of Industry 4.0 transformation for the manufacturing sector were discussed.
As the technology becomes affordable, and more skillset available, the adoption of industry 4.0 or lighthouse factory will improve, said Ravi Kumar, Chief Digital Officer, Exide Industries Ltd. He was talking part of the panel discussion organised by Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions. He also told that Industry 4.0 goes beyond manufacturing.
Talking about the importance of digital manufacturing, Virendra Chaudhari of AWS informed that Cloud is going to play a critical role in Industry 4.0 implementation. “While industry leaders are leveraging cloud and reaping its benefits, this is yet to be witnessed in a large part of the industry. More players need to step up and leverage the cloud to make a significant impact on their top line/bottom lines”, said Virendra Chaudhari. “IT and OT needs go hand in hand, and that is the biggest disconnect we are facing”, added Mr Chaudhari.
Amit Srivastava who moderated the panel discussion raised concerns about digital security. Answering him, Virendra Chaudhari told that security is a shared responsibility. Further, Mr Srivasatava spoke about lighthouse factories, which is basically about scaling up the operations.
In India, there are only two lighthouse certified factories, informed Sreekanta Aradhya B during the panel discussion. He informed that Europe leads the pack with 35 lighthouse certified factories followed by China. Bosch itself have 2 lighthouse factories in China, and can support Indian companies in the journey setting up lighthouse factories in India, added Mr Aradhya.
