BorgWarner to Supply Advanced Transfer Cases for SAIC Maxus Export Models

BorgWarner

BorgWarner has partnered with SAIC Maxus to supply locally developed and manufactured transfer cases for its export vehicle lineup. The company will provide two types of transfer cases: an on-demand version with mechanical locking and a high-torque part-time variant. Mass production is slated to begin in Q3 2026.

“Our collaboration with SAIC Maxus spans over a decade, reinforcing its position in China and supporting global expansion,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President & General Manager of Drivetrain and Morse Systems. She highlighted that the partnership demonstrates BorgWarner’s technical expertise and its commitment to local R&D in China.

BorgWarner’s advanced transfer cases feature the HY-VO® driveline chain, designed to improve efficiency at high speeds. The systems support 2H and AUTO modes, offering better fuel efficiency than full-time 4WD systems on paved roads. For vehicles with on-demand 4WD, the transfer cases enhance safety, handling, and drivability, while the mechanical locking mode ensures superior off-road performance and recovery capabilities.

By integrating on-demand and part-time 4WD systems, BorgWarner’s transfer cases deliver exceptional reliability and robust performance, providing strong support for SAIC Maxus’ global expansion.
