BorgWarner, a global leader in innovative mobility solutions, has extended its transfer case business with a prominent North American automaker by securing new contracts for two upcoming vehicle platforms. The company will provide its Electro-Mechanical On-Demand 2-Speed (EMOD) and Electric Shift-on-the-Fly 2-Speed (ESOF) transfer cases, tailored for both combustion and hybrid passenger truck models.

These agreements will equip two truck platforms with BorgWarner’s advanced EMOD and ESOF transfer cases, while a third platform will feature the ESOF system exclusively. Production is expected to begin in 2027 for two platforms, with the third following in 2028.

“Our long-standing partnership with this OEM has spanned over four decades, and we are excited to continue supporting their upcoming models,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President of Drivetrain and Morse Systems. “These contracts affirm our product quality, performance, and commitment to exceptional service.”

The EMOD system offers rapid response, precise torque control, and improved safety through a motor-driven clutch that actively distributes torque based on real-time data. This will be its debut on this particular truck platform. The ESOF, designed for heavy-duty four-wheel drive trucks, enables efficient two-wheel drive mode with the capability to shift to four-wheel drive on the go, offering refined noise and vibration performance.

Both transfer cases incorporate BorgWarner’s HY-VO® driveline chain for enhanced efficiency and durability. The EMOD also features high-performance friction products, and both will be manufactured at the company’s Seneca, South Carolina facility.
