BorgWarner Inc (NYSE: BWA) has signed a Master Supply Agreement with TurboCell, a subsidiary of data center infrastructure developer Endeavour, to deliver a modular turbine generator system designed to meet the escalating energy demands of artificial intelligence-driven data centers and microgrid applications.
The turbine generator platform is engineered to support large-scale AI campuses operating at gigawatt capacity. BorgWarner expects the system to provide a high-output alternative to conventional generation technologies, addressing growing requirements for reliable, responsive, and scalable on-site power solutions.
The collaboration follows more than three years of joint development between BorgWarner and TurboCell to bring the system to commercialization. The modular design enables deployment for both primary and backup power applications, incorporating advanced controls to manage load fluctuations, grid peaks, and transient power events.
The system is designed to comply with future emissions requirements, including anticipated California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards, and supports multiple fuel options such as natural gas, propane, diesel, and hydrogen. This fuel flexibility is intended to support diverse energy strategies and sustainability goals.
The solution integrates BorgWarner’s expertise across turbocharging, thermal systems, power electronics, high-speed electric machinery, and advanced control software. The company plans to leverage its established automotive supply chain and manufacturing infrastructure to maintain significant vertical integration, targeting control of approximately 65 percent of system content.
Production is expected to commence in 2027 at BorgWarner’s facility in Hendersonville, North Carolina, with an initial installed capacity target of 2 gigawatts. TurboCell’s system will be offered exclusively through Endeavour’s Edged Infrastructure solutions division, supporting the rapid expansion of AI computing facilities requiring high-density, on-site power generation.
BorgWarner views this agreement as a strategic step into the data center energy segment, aligning with long-term trends toward electrification, digital infrastructure growth, and lower-emission power technologies. BorgWarner has a strong commitment to sustainability, developing technologies that improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and enhance vehicle performance. The company serves a diverse customer base, including automakers, suppliers, and consumers worldwide, with a growing emphasis on electric mobility and hybrid systems. Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, BorgWarner operates in multiple countries and continues to lead the way in advancing automotive technologies.
