Boeing and Shift5, a leading observability platform for onboard operational technology, have announced a global strategic reseller partnership to streamline Aircraft Network Security Program (ANSP) compliance for commercial and civil aviation operators. Through this collaboration, Shift5’s Compliance Module will automate cybersecurity data monitoring, reducing manual effort for maintenance and security teams while enhancing fleet safety and operational efficiency.

Aviation authorities, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), mandate that operators of connected or e-enabled aircraft establish an ANSP to ensure network security and regulatory compliance. Boeing and Shift5’s partnership provides an automated solution to meet these evolving cybersecurity requirements, significantly easing compliance with FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 119-1 and EASA regulations (EU 2017/373).

The partnership between Shift5 and Boeing transforms the way aviation operators manage cybersecurity compliance. By integrating Shift5’s ANSP Compliance Module with Boeing’s Aviation Business Solutions, operators can automate the process of capturing, analyzing, and reporting anomalies in aircraft network security log files. This system supports continuous or scheduled log file assessments to detect potential cyber threats, enhancing overall security monitoring through Shift5’s advanced machine learning models, which are aligned with the MITRE ATT&CK™ Framework.

Additionally, the solution simplifies the creation of compliance reports and enables the seamless export of insights to existing ticketing and SIEM systems. Operators can retain security logs for recordkeeping and audit purposes, ensuring that they meet regulatory requirements while streamlining their cybersecurity operations. This collaboration aims to significantly reduce the manual effort required to ensure compliance and improve the safety and security of aviation fleets.

Josh Lospinoso, CEO and co-founder of Shift5, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in modern aviation:, “Next-generation aircraft bring advanced connectivity but also introduce complex cybersecurity challenges. ANSP compliance has traditionally been a time-intensive process, but with Boeing, we are transforming it into a streamlined, automated solution. This partnership will save airlines time, effort, and resources as they navigate evolving regulatory requirements.”

Brett Burgess, Commercial Aviation Director for Digital Aviation Solutions at Boeing, highlighted Boeing’s commitment to cybersecurity “Digital transformation in aviation requires robust security solutions. Our collaboration with Shift5 enhances operator efficiency while ensuring compliance with global cybersecurity standards, reinforcing Boeing’s dedication to maintaining the highest levels of aviation security.”

For aircraft with onboard network security conditions, ANSP compliance requires continuous monitoring and analysis of security logs. Boeing’s cybersecurity analytics service, powered by Shift5, will enable airlines to proactively detect anomalies—whether from human error or cyber threats—prioritize critical incidents, and implement mitigation strategies.
