Boeing has successfully completed the first flight of Thailand’s initial AH-6 Little Bird light attack helicopter on August 22 at its Mesa, Arizona facility. This is the first of eight helicopters ordered by the Royal Thai Army as part of its defense modernization efforts.

“The Little Bird offers outstanding performance and flexibility, making it a powerful and adaptable asset in a combat-proven package,” said Christina Upah, Vice President of Attack Helicopter Programs at Boeing. “We are honored to partner with the U.S. Army in providing these critical capabilities to Thailand and look forward to training the first group of Thai pilots soon.”

Once Thailand’s AH-6 fleet is delivered, Boeing will provide training for Royal Thai Army pilots at its Mesa site and the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground. The AH-6, equipped with an advanced cockpit and the latest integrated weapon systems, is designed for a range of missions and diverse operational environments, enhancing Thailand’s aviation readiness.

Boeing secured the contract to deliver eight AH-6 helicopters in February 2022 through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Foreign Military Sales program. The contract includes spare parts, training equipment, support tools, and technical documentation for Thailand.
