BMW Motorrad is set to introduce its premium electric scooter, the CE 02, to the Indian market later this month. The company has already started generating excitement by sharing several teaser images on its social media platforms, hinting at the upcoming launch.
The BMW CE 02 is designed as an urban electric vehicle (EV) and is produced by TVS at their facility in Hosur. This EV platform is the result of a collaborative effort between BMW and TVS. As part of this partnership, TVS will not only manufacture the CE 02 but will also integrate some of its advanced technology into its own product lineup.
The strategic vision behind the CE series of electric vehicles is to establish a high-end brand focused on clean energy, while also positioning the product as a stylish urban solution that can attract a new demographic of customers on a global scale.
The CE 02 is equipped with a 2kWh battery, offering buyers the flexibility to choose between a single battery setup or a dual battery configuration. With the single battery option, the scooter delivers a range of approximately 90 kilometers and achieves a top speed of 95 kilometers per hour.
Alternatively, opting for the dual battery setup provides a range of about 45 kilometers and a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. This versatility in battery options caters to varying needs and preferences. The CE 02, much like its sibling, the CE 04, boasts a modern and aspirational design, making it an appealing choice for those seeking a stylish and innovative mode of transportation.
The CE 02 is anticipated to be priced around Rs 5 lakh, which positions it as one of the more expensive scooters available in India. This pricing places it in a premium segment, reflecting its advanced features and the high-end brand image that BMW aims to build.
For comparison, BMW also offers the CE 04 in India, which is priced at Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) and is sold as a completely built-up (CBU) unit. This pricing strategy underscores BMW’s commitment to offering top-notch electric mobility solutions in the Indian market, catering to a niche audience that values both performance and prestige in their electric vehicle choices.
