The BMW Group and UNICEF have announced a partnership in India aimed at enhancing education for 1 lakh children across four states, focusing on foundational learning and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills. The initiative seeks to empower children from early learning stages through adolescence, with a special emphasis on marginalized adolescent girls.
This collaboration will provide access to quality STEM education for girls in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Tribal Ashramshalas in remote rural areas of Assam, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. As part of a broader global initiative, the BMW Group and UNICEF aim to reach over 10 million children annually across five countries, including India, by fostering education and STEM training.
UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey highlighted the importance of STEM education in bridging employment skill gaps, especially for girls, who often miss out on such opportunities. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, emphasized that the partnership leverages education as a powerful tool for empowerment, combining it with gender equality to maximize its impact.
