BluSmart has announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd to procure renewable energy. As per the agreement, Tata Power Trading Company Ltd (TPTCL) will procure 30 MW of power from Tata Power’s 200 MW solar PV power plant in Bikaner district, Rajasthan.

BluSmart is an Indian electric vehicle mobility startup, offering eco-friendly and sustainable transportation solutions. Launched in 2019, BluSmart aims to revolutionize urban mobility by providing electric cab services, contributing to a cleaner environment and reducing carbon emissions. The company operates a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with advanced technology for a safe and comfortable ride.

Tata Power is a leading integrated power company in India, part of the Tata Group. Established in 1915, Tata Power has a rich legacy of providing reliable and affordable electricity to millions of consumers. The company’s diverse portfolio includes renewable energy, transmission and distribution, and coal and gas-based power generation. Tata Power is committed to sustainability and has been at the forefront of promoting clean energy solutions, including solar and wind power.

The partnership with TPTCL, made possible by the new green energy open access rules, enables BluSmart to eliminate all Scope 2 emissions (indirect emissions) from its current 1.4 million sq ft of EV charging infrastructure and future charging hubs. According to the company, this makes BluSmart the first mobility player in India to shift from zero tailpipe emissions to becoming a completely emission-free company.

“We are leading the way in fully decarbonizing mobility on a large scale and are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Tata Power as we fuel our EV charging infrastructure with 100% clean electricity,” said BluSmart Co-founder Punit Goyal. He added, “BluSmart has already traveled 0.4 billion electric kilometers since its launch, and we are excited that the journey to 1 billion electric kilometers will now be powered by 100% renewable energy.”

Tarun Katiyar, CEO of TPTCL, expressed that their collaboration with BluSmart aims to assist in the country’s journey towards decarbonizing mobility. He emphasized TPTCL’s dedication to aiding various industries in reaching their renewable energy objectives with their sustainable, innovative, and cost-effective energy solutions. BluSmart currently manages a fleet of nearly 6,000 EVs and possesses 4,000 EV chargers situated across 35 EV charging hubs in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru.
