BluPine Energy has entered into a 25-year agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to deliver power from a 150 MW solar project combined with battery storage in Rajasthan. This development is part of SECI’s larger initiative to secure 2 GW of power from solar facilities linked to interstate transmission networks, paired with 1 GW/4 GWh of storage capacity. BluPine secured the contract through a competitive bidding process.

The upcoming installation will be managed by Solarcraft Power India 17, a project-specific entity created by BluPine Energy. The site will be located in Bikaner, a district well-suited for solar energy generation due to its high solar irradiance levels.

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, said the agreement reflects the company’s focus on delivering reliable renewable power. “Our solar-plus-storage project in Rajasthan is designed to provide consistent, dispatchable clean electricity, helping improve grid reliability and reduce fluctuations.” The Indian Ministry of Power has made energy storage a key part of the country’s energy planning to handle demand peaks and maintain grid stability.

BluPine Energy was formed in India by global investment firm Actis, and is backed by $800 million from Actis’ Energy Fund 5. The company is actively developing over 4 GW of renewable energy assets across the country. BluPine Energy is a renewable energy services provider established in India, backed by Actis, a renowned global investor recognized for its leadership in financing and developing sustainable infrastructure ventures. The establishment of this solar project aligns with the broader vision of promoting clean energy solutions and reducing carbon footprints across the nation.

As the world increasingly focuses on sustainable development and the urgent need to combat climate change, BluPine Energy’s efforts exemplify a proactive approach to harnessing renewable resources. The company’s strategic initiatives not only pave the way for a greener future but also demonstrate the potential for significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of innovative energy solutions.
