Blue Jet Healthcare has commenced Phase 1 of its new manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam, marking the project’s ground-breaking in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics & Communications and HRD, Nara Lokesh, along with senior government officials, industry partners, customers and investors. The company’s Board of Directors approved an initial investment of approximately ₹1,000 crore for Phase 1, as per its resolution dated July 31, 2025. The Vizag project is planned as a multi-phase development with long-term investment potential of up to ₹2,300 crore, subject to regulatory approvals, project milestones and further Board clearances.
The facility will manufacture complex pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), enhancing Blue Jet Healthcare’s capabilities as a supplier to global pharmaceutical innovators. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to create high-skilled employment opportunities and support the development of a broader industrial ecosystem in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Shiven Arora said the project represents a significant step in the company’s long-term growth plans. He acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, noting that the state’s policy clarity and responsiveness provided the confidence required to proceed with a large-scale investment. He added that the goal is to build a globally competitive manufacturing platform aligned with evolving pharmaceutical supply chain needs.
Executive Chairman Akshay Arora highlighted the company’s history and strategic focus. He said that since its founding in 1968, Blue Jet Healthcare has grown steadily with an emphasis on governance, quality and long-term partnerships. The Vizag project, he noted, reflects disciplined expansion aligned with global demand and the company’s multi-decade development plans. The investment supports Andhra Pradesh’s industrial development objectives and contributes to India’s broader efforts to strengthen advanced manufacturing and supply-chain resilience in the pharmaceutical sector.
