Big Bang Boom Solutions Private Ltd (BBBS), a Chennai-based defense start-up, is in advanced negotiations to export cybersecurity solutions and anti-drone systems to seven African countries and a UK-based company. “The first international order might be secured within this quarter,” Dr. R Shivaraman, Director and CTO of BBBS, told reporters. The company is actively engaging with several strategic African nations, including Kenya, Mozambique, Algeria, Tanzania, and Nigeria, to supply its products.
Last week, BBBS hosted representatives from the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) of Mozambique at its Chennai facility. The visitors, seeking solutions to address the growing issue of kidnappings in their country, were impressed with live demonstrations of BBBS’s cybersecurity and intelligence-gathering technologies. Shivaraman expressed optimism about securing significant orders from Mozambique for their indigenously developed technology.
BBBS is also exploring business expansion in the UK and Europe, aligning with the Indian government’s push for increased defense exports. “Our negotiations with a company in the UK are progressing well, and we expect to finalize the deal in the fourth quarter of this financial year,” Shivaraman added, noting that the discussions involve exporting see-through armor systems for tanks to enhance situational awareness.
The start-up, a seven-time winner of the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) program, recently participated in various Ministry of Defence delegations to African countries, showcasing its anti-drone systems and cybersecurity solutions. This exposure has led to promising potential deals with several African nations.
BBBS’s global expansion efforts are bolstered by a recent ₹210 crore contract awarded by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force under the iDEX program for counter-drone systems. The company is closely collaborating with the Indian armed forces, deploying advanced software across various Army platforms. BBBS offers a range of software and cybersecurity products, including indigenous IMSI catchers and lawful interception tools. The start-up has successfully completed three iDEX challenges in the fields of drones, advanced chemical engineering, computer vision, and cybersecurity.
