Biesse, a global leader in machinery for processing wood, glass, stone, plastic, and composites, hosted its flagship event, Inside Biesse 2024, from August 8 to 10 at its Bengaluru showroom. The event drew numerous visitors, including industry professionals, woodworking enthusiasts, and furniture manufacturers, offering a comprehensive look at the company’s latest technological advancements and machinery.
The opening day featured prominent guests, including Narsi D. Kularia, Managing Director of NARSI Group, and Jagdish Kularia, Director of NARSI Group. The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by speeches from Souma Ray, Director of Sales & Business Development at Biesse, and Narsi D. Kularia. The day was further enriched by a Bharatanatyam dance performance, setting a vibrant tone for the event.
Souma Ray highlighted the significance of the event, noting, “Hosting Inside Biesse at our second-largest global facility in India underscores our dedication to innovation in the woodworking sector.” He also announced a major milestone: the successful export of 10,000 machines to over 75 countries this year.
Narsi Kularia praised Biesse’s contributions to the evolution of the woodworking industry, reflecting on the shift from traditional craftsmanship to advanced machinery. He expressed excitement about future collaborations between Biesse’s manufacturing expertise and India’s creative furniture makers.
The event featured keynotes from industry leaders, including Chintan Parekh, Joint Secretary of AFMT, who spoke on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and Gopal Dwivedi from LIVSPACE, who discussed modern material trends. Additionally, Rahul Mehta from FFSC and a panel of experts addressed the challenges and innovations in furniture manufacturing.
On the second day, Uday N., Scientist-G at IPIRTI, presented on wood-based panel trends in India, while Nishant Verma from IKEA India discussed sustainability and future trends in the furniture industry. Dr. Jimmy Thomas from Canadian Wood provided insights into the applications and future of solid wood.
A major highlight was the introduction of Biesse’s latest edge banding machines, the ‘Akron 1300’ and ‘Akron 1400,’ designed for both domestic and international markets. These machines, featuring advanced automation, received positive feedback from attendees. Another notable exhibit was the Rover-J CNC machine, renowned for its precision in crafting intricate designs for the Indian Parliament building.
Sayeed Ahmed, CEO of Biesse India, expressed enthusiasm about the event’s success, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, Made in India technology. He acknowledged the positive response and reiterated Biesse’s dedication to meeting the growing market demands.
Advanced technologies showcased included 5-axis CNC machining, nesting, edge banding, cutting, sizing, and drilling. Biesse continues to expand its reach into industries like aerospace and energy, offering solutions for various applications.
A significant development was the launch of the Bangalore chapter of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers & Traders (AFMT). Biesse, as an AFMT member, aims to promote awareness of BIS standards and support the growth of Karnataka’s furniture industry. Inside Biesse 2024 provided a platform for exploring Biesse’s innovative solutions and engaging with industry experts, reinforcing the company’s role in shaping the future of manufacturing.
