BHEL Wins Contract to Set Up 1×800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Telangana

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received an order from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) to establish the 1×800 MW Adilabad supercritical thermal power plant in Mancherial district, Telangana, on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) basis. As part of the agreement, BHEL will handle design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and civil works. The contract also includes providing advanced equipment for emission control to enhance efficiency.

The new unit will be built alongside the existing 2×600 MW units, which were also supplied by BHEL, including the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) scope, and were successfully commissioned in 2016. BHEL has played a major role in Telangana’s power sector, having installed over 75% of the coal-based sets for various utilities across the state. As India’s leading power equipment manufacturer, BHEL has installed over 1,70,000 MW of utility power capacity nationwide, strengthening India’s energy security and contributing to the country’s goal of self-reliance in the power sector.
