State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) announced a significant contract with Adani Power Ltd to establish a 2×800 MW thermal power plant (TPP) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Valued at over ₹3,500 crore, this order underscores BHEL’s role in advancing India’s energy infrastructure.

The contract entails the supply of key equipment, including boilers, turbines, and generators, as well as supervision of erection and commissioning of the supercritical technology-based power project. According to a regulatory filing, BHEL’s Trichy and Haridwar plants will manufacture the boiler and turbine generator, respectively.

The project execution timeline stipulates the delivery of unit-1 within 35 months and unit-2 within 41 months. This order is a notable addition to BHEL’s portfolio, reflecting its expertise and capability in handling large-scale power projects.

Earlier in the month, BHEL reported its fiscal fourth-quarter profit at ₹489.62 crore, a decline of 25.6 percent from the ₹658.02 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of FY23. The company’s revenue from operations was marginally up at ₹8,260.25 crore, compared to ₹8,226.99 crore in the same period last year. However, the company’s EBITDA saw a 30.6 percent decline year-on-year.

This order from Adani Power marks a significant achievement for BHEL, enhancing its contribution to India’s power sector and reinforcing its reputation as a leading provider of advanced power solutions.
