Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), a state-owned enterprise, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco) for a thermal power project valued at around ₹8,000 crore. The award is for the 2×660 MW Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) package for the Koradi Thermal Power Station, according to BHEL’s filing.
The BTG package encompasses the supply of equipment, installation, commissioning, and civil works for the project. The completion timelines are set for 52 months for Unit-11 and 58 months for Unit-12 from the date of the LoA. BHEL, a central public sector enterprise, continues to strengthen its position, with Mahagenco being a government-owned entity under the Maharashtra state government.
In its financial results for the December quarter, BHEL reported a 170% increase in net profit, reaching ₹124 crore, while revenue grew by 32% to ₹7,277 crore compared to the previous year. The company’s Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) rose 40% to ₹304 crore, and its margins expanded by 30 basis points to 4.2%, up from 3.9% last year, despite a rise in other expenses.
