Krutrim, the AI startup founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and CEO of Ola Cabs, has announced plans to design, manufacture, and release its first AI chip by 2026. The initial chip series includes “Bodhi” for AI applications, “Sarv” for general computing, and “Ojas” for edge computing. Additionally, Krutrim aims to introduce the Bodhi-II chip by 2028. The company has secured a strategic partnership with global chip manufacturers Arm and Unteher AI for this initiative.

At the Ola Sankalp 2024 event, Aggarwal highlighted India’s potential to lead in future technologies such as AI, citing the country’s vast data resources and large tech talent pool. Krutrim also revealed plans to increase its data center capacity from the current 20 MW to 1 GW by 2028.

Earlier this year, Aggarwal transitioned Ola’s cloud services from Microsoft Azure to Krutrim Cloud. At the event, he announced that Krutrim AI now supports over 50 new services, making it suitable for a wide range of applications needed by Indian developers. The Krutrim Cloud will extend its offerings to include infrastructure, developer platforms, data platforms, AI models, platforms, and applications.

Aggarwal reported significant adoption of Krutrim’s services, with over 25,000 developers using Krutrim Cloud and more than 10 million users engaging with the Krutrim chat app. Since its launch in early 2024, Krutrim has handled 250 billion API calls and generated over 1 trillion tokens in the past six months. The company is also offering cloud services worth Rs 100 crore for free until Diwali.

In addition to Krutrim’s developments, Aggarwal announced the relaunch of Ola Share in Bengaluru and the introduction of Ola Coins, a loyalty program for various Ola services. He also discussed the growing trend of quick commerce and emphasized the role of automation in scaling operations, unveiling a new automated warehouse for brands on ONDC.
