With India’s construction and mining equipment market expected to grow from $16 billion to $45 billion by 2030*, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has introduced a new range of BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks designed to meet the evolving demands of infrastructure development. The latest launch features the HX and Torqshift series, built for superior performance in high-pressure environments.

These new models have undergone rigorous on-site validation, with over 150 units tested at some of the country’s most challenging job sites. Results have shown significant improvements in vehicle uptime, operational productivity, and cost-efficiency—paving the way for full-scale production.

“India’s infrastructure and mining sectors continue to be core pillars of our operations. We’re witnessing a major fleet modernization wave as contractors invest in reliable assets for long-term efficiency,” said Satyakam Arya, MD and CEO, DICV. “Our extensive field trials have proven that this new range delivers real, measurable value to operators.”

The latest BharatBenz portfolio has been meticulously developed to cater to the diverse demands of India’s fast-evolving construction and mining sectors. At the heart of this updated range are the heavy-duty construction trucks under the HX Series, namely the 2828C HX and 3532C HX. These vehicles are engineered for exceptional durability, enhanced fuel efficiency, and operator-friendly functionality, making them ideal for tough on-site conditions.

Powering the HX series are robust engine options that include 280 hp with 1100 Nm of torque and 320 hp with 1250 Nm of torque. These configurations are built to handle demanding payloads with ease while maintaining performance consistency. Whether navigating steep inclines or transporting heavy loads across uneven terrain, these trucks are designed to deliver both strength and efficiency.

To further elevate performance and safety, the HX trucks come equipped with a suite of modern features. Hill Hold Assist ensures stability on gradients, while the inclusion of wind deflectors enhances aerodynamics and fuel economy. Unitized front axle bearings help reduce maintenance requirements, and an advanced driver state monitoring system adds an extra layer of safety during long hauls.

For mining-specific operations, BharatBenz has introduced the Torqshift Series with models 2832CM and 3532CM. These trucks feature globally-proven Automated Manual Transmissions (AMT) that offer smooth, lag-free gear shifts. Designed with operator comfort and turnaround efficiency in mind, the Torqshift range combines rugged durability with excellent fuel management, making it a perfect fit for intense mining environments.

In addition to construction and mining, BharatBenz has developed a Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) solution. The 2828C RMC variant features a 9-cubic-meter drum capacity and is powered by the OM 926 BSVI OBD-II engine, delivering 280 hp and 1100 Nm of torque. This truck is purpose-built for reliable and consistent concrete transport across rough and uneven terrains common to infrastructure projects.

According to Pradeep Kumar Thimmaiyan, President and Chief Technology Officer at DICV, the HX lineup is a direct result of listening to customer feedback. “We’ve reengineered key systems to reduce maintenance, increase payload, and significantly improve driver safety. The cabin meets full EU ECE R29-03 crash compliance, demonstrating our commitment to keeping operators secure in all environments.”

Among the standout traits of the HX line are its exceptional gradeability—60% for the 2828C and 54% for the 3532C—allowing confident uphill travel with full loads. The entire powertrain, from engine to axle, has been fine-tuned for integrated performance, while a best-in-class warranty package adds long-term value for fleet owners seeking reliability and peace of mind.

Rajiv Chaturvedi, President & Chief Business Officer at DICV, highlighted the operational advantages, stating, “Operators are seeking vehicles that minimize downtime and simplify service. Our new trucks are fully loaded with features like GPS tracking, driver assistance systems, and factory-fitted safety enhancements—designed to keep projects on schedule and reduce costs.”

The updated lineup is available across BharatBenz’s vast network of 385 dealerships in India. Customers also gain access to advanced service infrastructure, including predictive maintenance tools through an integrated uptime center. Annual maintenance contracts covering up to 15,000 hours further improve operational continuity, backed by real-time diagnostics, expert technical support, and data-driven maintenance solutions.

BharatBenz trucks have already played a vital role in numerous landmark infrastructure projects nationwide. With this new range, the brand reaffirms its commitment to safety, quality, and technological innovation as India’s development accelerates.
