Bharat Electronics Wins Rs 3,170-Crore Order to Upgrade BMP Tanks

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a state-owned defense company, has secured a Rs 3,172 crore contract to upgrade BMP 2/2K tanks for the Indian Army. The contract involves supplying and installing an advanced Sighting and Fire Control System (FCS) designed and developed in India. The deal was signed on June 28 with Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) in Chennai.

BEL, based in Bengaluru, will also provide a comprehensive engineering support package as part of the project. The company’s share price rose by 1.59% to Rs 309.35 on the NSE following the announcement.

In addition to this contract, BEL has received other orders worth Rs 481 crore since May 22, 2024. These include Doppler Weather Radar, classroom jammers, spares, and services. So far, BEL has accumulated orders totaling Rs 4,803 crore in the current financial year.
