BEML Wins Rs 293.81 Crore Defence Contract for 150 High Mobility Vehicles

BEML Ltd

BEML Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ public sector company under the Ministry of Defence, announced that it has secured an order valued at Rs 293.81 crore from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of 150 indigenously developed high mobility vehicles (HMVs) with a 6×6 configuration. The production of these vehicles will mainly take place at BEML’s Palakkad and Mysore manufacturing facilities, with additional assembly work planned at other locations depending on operational requirements, the company stated.

Engineered for high performance, the 6×6 HMVs are designed to operate reliably in challenging terrains, diverse weather conditions, and high-altitude environments. The vehicles incorporate several advanced features, including an independent suspension system, a powerful air-cooled engine, a central tyre inflation system, anti-lock braking technology, and a backbone tube chassis, all contributing to enhanced mobility, stability, and safety during operations.

Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Ltd, highlighted that the order underscores the company’s ability to produce cutting-edge indigenous defense equipment, strengthening India’s defense capabilities.

He also noted that this contract aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India campaign and reflects BEML’s commitment to equipping the armed forces with domestically developed, high-quality products. The HMVs are expected to be vital for a range of military operations, providing essential logistics and support services in some of India’s most remote and difficult-to-access regions.
