BEML Limited will set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and metro train coaches in Umaria village, Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the project, highlighting it as a major step towards the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make in Madhya Pradesh’ initiatives.

The foundation stone will be laid on August 10 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in attendance and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw joining virtually. The project, named BRAHMA (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing), will be set up at a cost of ₹1,800 crore and is expected to generate around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Spread over 148 acres in Goharganj tehsil, the facility will initially produce 125–200 coaches annually, with capacity increasing to 1,100 coaches within five years. The plant will cater to India’s premium trains and metro rail projects, placing Madhya Pradesh prominently on the country’s railway manufacturing map.

According to CM Yadav, the project will boost industrial activity in Bhopal and Raisen by creating opportunities for both large and small-scale suppliers. Calling Project BRAHMA a “future-ready, globally competitive rail manufacturing hub,” he said it will play a vital role in achieving self-reliance in the sector.
