Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), a public sector enterprise specializing in heavy equipment for rail, metro, and defense sectors, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) to enhance research and development in marine technology. Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, stated that this initiative aligns with the goal of reducing import dependency for the defense sector while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. Roy emphasized that the partnership supports India’s push for self-reliance in defense and maritime industries.

Sanjeev Singhal, CMD of MDL, echoed similar sentiments, describing the MoU as a key step toward innovation in marine applications. He noted that the partnership underscores the shared vision of both organizations to advance indigenous production and contribute to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission. Through this collaboration, BEML and MDL aim to develop advanced solutions and streamline production processes to meet the evolving needs of the defense and marine sectors.
