BatX Energies, a leader in lithium-ion battery recycling and sustainable energy, has teamed up with LW3 Pvt. Ltd., a company specializing in Digital Product Passport (DPP) solutions using blockchain and IoT technologies. This partnership aims to enhance battery lifecycle management by delivering traceable and eco-friendly solutions for energy storage systems (ESS).

Leveraging LW3’s DPP technology, the partnership will enable comprehensive tracking of battery origins, usage, and lifecycle, from production to end-of-life. This aligns with BatX’s mission to promote a circular economy in the energy sector.

Utkarsh Singh, CEO of BatX Energies, emphasized that the partnership will boost transparency in the recycling process and supply chain while helping BatX meet global regulatory standards and expand its operations. He added that digital passports will play a key role in establishing a circular economy for battery materials, especially in India.

The collaboration addresses challenges related to tracking cross-border battery scrap, particularly in non-OECD countries like India. It will assist electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers and battery producers in reaching sustainability targets and complying with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.

By integrating LW3’s IoT and blockchain technologies into BatX’s recycling framework, the partnership will enhance material accountability and help meet compliance standards, especially in markets like Europe. Blockchain technology will also streamline BatX’s reverse logistics, ensuring transparent and secure collection of end-of-life batteries.

LW3 Co-founder and CEO Abhijit Pegu expressed optimism, highlighting that both companies’ shared focus on sustainability and innovation sets the stage for advancing battery recycling standards in India and globally.

Additionally, this partnership supports international digital product passport standards, including the European Union’s CIRPASS initiative. Together, BatX and LW3 aim to improve environmental practices globally by ensuring compliance with battery recycling and reuse regulations.

The collaboration, which also includes joint fundraising plans, was further solidified during their participation in the India-EU TTC Working Group 2 Matchmaking Event for Battery Recycling Technology. This event, organized by the Government of India and the European Commission, fostered cross-border innovations in battery recycling and circular economy practices between India and the EU.
