Balu Forge Industries Ltd. (BFIL) has announced a significant expansion with the establishment of a new forging capacity of 72,000 tons annually. This expansion includes the acquisition of three advanced forging production lines: a 16-ton closed die forging hammer, a 10-ton closed die forging hammer, and an 8,000-ton capacity mechanical press. These state-of-the-art facilities will be part of BFIL’s new greenfield project in Belagavi, Karnataka.

According to the company, the new forging unit will incorporate advanced automation and Industry 4.0 technologies, which aim to enhance BFIL’s R&D capabilities. This expansion will integrate with their recently acquired precision machining unit from Mercedes Benz, significantly bolstering the company’s engineering and precision product offerings. This integration is expected to cater to various sectors, including oil and gas, aerospace, defense, railways, mining, and automotive parts manufacturing.

The new facility will enable BFIL to produce forgings weighing up to 800-900 kilograms, thereby strengthening its presence in the engineering industry. The company highlighted that the expanded R&D capabilities in alloy mixing and metal combinations will allow BFIL to develop products from a range of alloys, including aluminum and titanium. This initiative is targeted at major growth industries and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) markets across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The expansion project underscores BFIL’s commitment to innovation and excellence in manufacturing, positioning the company for future growth in global markets. Despite this positive development, BFIL’s shares ended down by 2.06% to ₹206.80 on the BSE. This new forging capacity is a strategic move for BFIL, aiming to meet the growing demand for high-quality engineering and precision products worldwide.
