Bajaj Auto to Inject $10 Million into Brazilian Subsidiary

Bajaj Auto Ltd, one of India’s top two-wheeler manufacturers, has announced plans to invest up to $10 million in its fully-owned subsidiary in Brazil, Bajaj Do BrasilComercio De MotocicletasLtda (“Bajaj Brazil”). The company’s board approved the investment during a meeting held earlier today.

This capital infusion, approximately ₹84 crores at current exchange rates, is intended to support business expansion and meet the growing needs of its operations in Brazil. The investment will be allocated in phases, aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.

Bajaj Brazil, established on March 31, 2022, has quickly gained momentum in the Brazilian motorcycle market. In June 2024, the subsidiary launched its own manufacturing plant in the Manaus free trade zone, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 units per shift. Bajaj currently sells motorcycles in Brazil under the ‘Dominar’ brand.

For the four quarters ending September 30, 2024, Bajaj Brazil generated approximately ₹250 crores in revenue from selling around 9,000 motorcycles. This investment highlights Bajaj Auto’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Brazilian market, South America’s largest economy, while reinforcing its international growth strategy. Following this capital injection, Bajaj Auto will retain 100% ownership of its Brazilian subsidiary.
