Bajaj Auto Ltd has announced significant leadership changes on Tuesday, appointing Abraham Joseph as the Managing Director of its electric vehicle subsidiary, Chetak Technology Ltd. Alongside, Ramtilak Ananthan has been named as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL).
Joseph, a seasoned veteran with over 35 years of experience at Bajaj Auto, will spearhead Chetak Technology Ltd (CTL) towards becoming a high-tech organization, focusing on developing core competencies across cutting-edge automotive technologies. CTL aims to explore the potential of hydrogen vehicles, further enhancing Bajaj Auto’s capacity to deliver technologically advanced products.
Joseph, in his role as CTO of BAL, has previously led the development of iconic brands like Pulsar and facilitated the creation of numerous standout products across various segments, including Platina, CT, Boxer, Discover, V, Avenger, and Dominar. He also led the development of a diverse range of three-wheeler products spanning various fuel variants. Notably, India’s first quadricycle, Qute, was launched under his leadership. Over the past six years, Joseph has been instrumental in establishing and expanding the EV R&D organization — the Chetak Technology R&D.
In tandem, Ananthan will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer at BAL, leveraging his over 30 years of experience in product development and testing. Having been promoted to Vice President R&D in 2013, Ananthan played a pivotal role in transitioning all Bajaj Auto products to BS4 norms.
Subsequently, in 2019, he took on the role of Head Test & Validation, overseeing the complete test and validation function, and played a key role in transitioning all Bajaj Auto products to BS6 and OBD2A norms.
