Avaada Group, a prominent player in the renewable energy industry, has proposed a significant investment of Rs 5,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh. The company’s officials presented this ambitious plan during a private meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday. The discussion took place while the Chief Minister was in Gandhinagar to attend the three-day Renewable Energy Investors Meet, an event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Avaada Group is actively involved in the development of large-scale renewable energy projects, focusing on diverse areas such as solar module production, green hydrogen, green methanol, green ammonia, and sustainable aviation fuel. The group aims to leverage its expertise in these sectors to contribute to Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy goals.
Their investment proposal underscores the state’s growing potential as a hub for green energy initiatives, which aligns with India’s broader push towards sustainable energy. In addition to Avaada’s proposal, the Wind Power Association made a formal request to the Chief Minister to establish wind parks in the state, similar to the existing solar parks.
Such a move could further diversify the renewable energy landscape in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, Torrent Power, another key player in the energy sector, advocated for the development of a policy specifically for pump hydro storage projects. This would help create a framework for better energy storage solutions, ensuring a more stable and reliable supply of renewable energy.
Sembcorp Group, a leading energy company, also showed interest in Madhya Pradesh’s expanding solar energy sector, particularly in investing in the proposed Morena and Neemuch solar projects. Their potential involvement in these projects reflects the increasing global interest in the state’s renewable energy prospects.
Furthermore, Borosil Group, known for its glass manufacturing, expressed its intent to establish a solar panel glass production unit in Madhya Pradesh, further boosting the state’s role in renewable energy manufacturing. During the meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared the state’s ambitious energy goals, revealing that Madhya Pradesh is on track to generate more than 20,000 megawatts of renewable energy in the coming years.
By 2030, the Chief Minister emphasized, 50 per cent of the state’s total energy output is expected to come from renewable sources. This is a dramatic leap from where the state stood in 2012, when its renewable energy capacity was only about 500 megawatts. Today, the total renewable energy capacity has surged to 7,000 megawatts, marking a remarkable 14-fold increase over the past 12 years.
Yadav also proudly highlighted that the Rewa Solar Plant, one of the state’s flagship renewable energy projects, has been included as a case study in the curriculum of Harvard University. He further noted that Madhya Pradesh now has an electricity surplus and is even supplying power to the Delhi Metro, underscoring the state’s growing role in India’s renewable energy landscape.
