Autodesk has announced the release of a specialised suite of digital design tools tailored for India’s public sector infrastructure projects. Introduced under the name ‘BIM Package for Viksit Bharat,’ the solution is designed for Indian engineers, architects, and decision-makers involved in planning and executing large-scale national projects.
The package was unveiled at the Autodesk Viksit Bharat Summit in New Delhi by Ashish Kumar Mittal, Director of Public Sector, and Alok Sharma, Director of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), Autodesk India & SAARC. This new release reflects Autodesk’s continued focus on delivering regional solutions to meet specific development needs.
The suite features custom toolsets for Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civil 3D, adapted to Indian standards and regulations. Revit now comes preloaded with Indian-standard templates and components, aligned with the Delhi Schedule of Rates (DSR), making it easier to design and coordinate building projects across disciplines. Autodesk Civil 3D has also been configured to comply with guidelines from the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), and Indian Railways, enabling more accurate and efficient planning of transport infrastructure. These modifications reduce manual tasks, improve coordination, and help accelerate project timelines.
Alok Sharma stated that BIM is central to infrastructure delivery, but wider adoption in India has been limited by a lack of locally relevant tools. The updated solutions aim to bridge this gap by aligning software features with Indian codes and workflows, helping professionals achieve better results at scale. Sharma further noted that with India’s large-scale investments in urban development, transportation, and industrial corridors, the role of BIM will be key in maintaining quality, cost control, and operational transparency across projects.
The launch comes amid growing interest in emerging technologies such as AI, generative design, and digital transformation in India’s construction and infrastructure sectors. According to Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design & Make report, over half of Indian organisations are already applying AI for sustainability—far ahead of global averages. Autodesk’s India-focused BIM solutions are positioned to support this trend, enabling faster, more efficient, and environmentally responsible project execution while staying aligned with national development goals.
