Autodesk has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anna University, Chennai, aimed at improving student employability in the design and manufacturing sectors. This partnership focuses on delivering courses that emphasize applied learning and specialization in digital manufacturing and generative design.
The agreement was signed by Conway Kang Wei Goh, Director of Autodesk Education Experiences, APAC, and Dr J Prakash, Registrar of Anna University, at the university’s main campus in Guindy, Chennai. The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Govi Chezhiaan, Honourable Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, along with senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government and representatives from both institutions.
As part of the collaboration, Autodesk and Anna University will establish a Design and Innovation Centre at the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG). This center will provide students with access to Autodesk’s advanced cloud-based platforms, enabling practical learning in areas such as digital manufacturing, CNC machining, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
The partnership also includes faculty development programs, design competitions, and opportunities for Anna University’s leadership to participate in Autodesk’s global events, such as Autodesk University. Faculty members will be trained as master trainers to lead digital manufacturing courses across Anna University’s constituent and affiliated colleges.
Conway Kang Wei Goh stated, “Our partnership with Anna University represents a significant step in empowering the next generation of engineers and innovators to drive India’s economic growth. Integrating Autodesk’s leading design and manufacturing technologies into the curriculum will equip students with essential skills to succeed in an increasingly digital world and meet the evolving demands of the industry.”
Dr J Prakash, Registrar of Anna University, added, “This strategic partnership aligns with our vision to transform technical education. Providing access to cutting-edge tools and global industry standards will foster innovation, enhance employability, and prepare our graduates for the challenges of tomorrow’s industries.”
The MoU lays out a comprehensive plan to integrate Autodesk’s design and manufacturing platforms into academic programs, promote research-oriented learning, and offer students practical experience with industry-relevant challenges. Through curriculum enhancements, hands-on training, and immersive learning initiatives, this collaboration seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements. This partnership underscores Autodesk’s commitment to expanding access to industry-relevant education throughout India’s higher education system.
