Auto Ingress, an Australia-based specialist in automated sensor doors, today announced the commissioning of its new assembly facility near Chennai, marking a major expansion of its manufacturing presence in India. The company has inaugurated a 20,000 sq ft assembly facility in Maraimalai Nagar, Tamil Nadu, with an initial investment of ₹12 crore.

The unit will handle assembly of sliding, swinging, revolving, telescopic, hermetic doors and gates—imported as kits from the parent operations in Australia—for residential, commercial, and industrial clients across India. With an annual capacity of approximately 4,000 units, the facility represents the first stage of Auto Ingress’s long-term investment plan. Over the next two to three years, the company plans to evolve this setup into a full-scale manufacturing operation, targeting total investment of up to ₹80 crore

Automatic doors at this plant are fully customisable in size and colour, with prices ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹300,000 per unit, and include multiple-year warranties. Initial distribution will focus on southern India via dealers, architects, and interior contractors, with plans to expand to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. India’s market for automatic sensor doors is estimated at 5,000–6,000 units annually. Auto Ingress aims to capture between 50% and 70% of this demand,

Raj Krishna, Managing Director of Auto Ingress, shared that the company is actively working on plans to build a larger facility within the next two years. Earlier this month, the company secured land from the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) for the new plant. Krishna estimated the total investment—covering land, construction, and equipment—at approximately ₹25 crore.

The expansion will also result in a significant workforce increase. Currently employing 35-40 people in Chennai, Auto Ingress anticipates growing its team to about 140 in the coming years, highlighting the company’s confidence in India’s continued growth and the rising demand for state-of-the-art automatic door solutions.
