AUMOVIO India, the Indian arm of German technology and electronics firm AUMOVIO, has achieved a major production milestone by surpassing 10 million Airbag Control Units (ACUs) manufactured at its Bengaluru facility. The achievement reflects the company’s growing presence in automotive safety electronics, serving leading domestic vehicle manufacturers as well as export markets such as Japan and South Korea.
Marking the occasion, the company also inaugurated a new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) production line and introduced its Integrated Safety Control Module (ISCM). These developments highlight AUMOVIO India’s continued focus on expanding its advanced safety technology portfolio while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in India.
Production of ACUs at the Bengaluru facility began in 2016, with volumes scaling steadily over the past decade. The milestone underscores the facility’s evolution into a key manufacturing hub for safety-critical electronic systems that support advanced vehicle safety functions. Today, the plant plays an increasingly important role in catering to both domestic demand and requirements across the Asia-Pacific region.
Commenting on the achievement, Prashanth Doreswamy, President and CEO of AUMOVIO India, stated that the milestone reflects the company’s consistent scale-up in operations and its commitment to operational excellence. He noted that increased automation and a strong emphasis on localisation have helped improve manufacturing efficiency while building a more resilient and integrated supply chain.
Over the years, the Bengaluru facility has undergone a significant transformation in its manufacturing processes. What began as a largely manual assembly operation has evolved into a more automated production environment. This transition has enhanced consistency, improved throughput, and reduced reliance on manual intervention, enabling the company to meet growing demand with greater efficiency.
In parallel, AUMOVIO India has deepened its localisation efforts, with a majority of components for ACU production now sourced domestically. The alignment of core components with local supply ecosystems has strengthened supply chain integration while supporting India’s broader push for domestic manufacturing.
The introduction of the TPMS line and the launch of the ISCM further reinforce the company’s capabilities in next-generation automotive safety systems. These additions are part of AUMOVIO India’s broader strategy to modernise its production infrastructure and diversify its product offerings, positioning the Bengaluru facility as a key hub for advanced mobility technologies in the region.
AUMOVIO was established as an independent entity in September 2025 following its spin-off from Continental AG’s former Automotive group sector. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio spanning sensor technologies, displays, braking systems, comfort solutions, and advanced driver assistance systems for software-defined vehicles.
Headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, AUMOVIO employs around 82,000 people across more than 80 global locations. In fiscal year 2025, the company reported revenues of €18.5 billion, reflecting its strong position in the global mobility technology landscape. With its latest milestone and ongoing investments in advanced safety systems, AUMOVIO India is well-positioned to support the evolving needs of the automotive industry while contributing to safer and more connected mobility solutions.
